Vancouver's Gas Price Plunge: A Welcome Relief for Drivers
In a surprising turn of events, gas prices in Vancouver have taken a dive for the fourth consecutive week, outperforming the national average and offering a much-needed respite to local drivers. This downward trend has sparked curiosity and raised questions about the factors influencing fuel costs.

According to GasBuddy.com analysts, Vancouver's average price has decreased by 2.4 cents per litre in the last week, outpacing the national average decline of 2.1 cents per litre. This is great news for Vancouverites, as it means they're saving more at the pump compared to the rest of the country.
"When you consider the change in gas prices over the past week, it's clear that Vancouverites are enjoying a significant savings compared to last year and even last month," GasBuddy emphasized. "Prices are down by 33.1 cents per litre compared to a year ago and by 21.8 cents per litre compared to last month."
But here's where it gets controversial... Patrick De Haan, Head of Petroleum Analysis, notes that the national average has been falling for four weeks straight, resulting in some of the lowest seasonal prices since 2020. De Haan attributes this to a combination of factors, including rising oil production in the U.S., Canada, and OPEC+, as well as high refinery output. These factors are likely to keep gas prices competitive in the coming weeks.
"The extent of the price relief is evident when you look at Alberta, where a few stations have already dropped below the $1-per-litre mark," De Haan pointed out. "Canadians are definitely feeling the benefits of these lower prices."
On Sunday, Vancouver's average price was 137.91 cents per litre, while Abbotsford saw an average of 124.49 cents per litre. The provincial average dropped to 135.2 cents per litre. As of Monday morning, Vancouver drivers could find prices as low as $1.30 per litre.
