A renowned UFC fighter, Don Frye, was rushed to the hospital after a rapid decline in health over the past three months. The 60-year-old's condition was critical, with a heart arrhythmia that could have been fatal. Frye initially refused medical attention, but his former rival, Gary Goodridge, intervened. Goodridge, aware of Frye's deteriorating health, informed his daughter, prompting Frye to seek medical help.
Frye, known for his MMA career since 1996, had been battling AFib (Atrial Fibrillation) since 2016. He described his recent health struggles, stating, 'I’ve been feeling like s*** for the last couple of years, but in the last three or four months I’ve been really going downhill, really steady, really fast.'
The American fighter's condition was severe, as he couldn't breathe properly for three weeks. Goodridge's concern was evident as he noticed Frye's inability to perform simple tasks like feeding the horses. Frye's oxygen intake was at 96%, but he felt severely depleted. After receiving new medications, Frye's oxygen levels improved to 99% or 100%, and he felt the positive impact of the treatment.
Goodridge expressed relief, saying, 'I really am happy that we came down here when we did. Sometimes toughness is too tough. Don’t need somebody that’s too tough.' This incident highlights the importance of seeking medical attention, even for those who pride themselves on resilience.
