MSNBC Rebrands to MS NOW: What You Need to Know! (2025)

Get ready for a media shakeup! The iconic MSNBC has undergone a radical transformation, rebranding itself as MS NOW, a bold move that's sure to spark debates and intrigue.

MS NOW, an abbreviation for 'My Source for News, Opinion, and the World,' is more than just a name change. It's a declaration of independence from the NBCUniversal family, as the cable network embarks on a new journey with Versant, a media company created by Comcast.

But here's where it gets controversial: the iconic Peacock logo, synonymous with NBCUniversal, will remain within the NBCU fold. Mark Lazarus, CEO of Versant, explained this decision in a memo to employees, stating, "This gives us the opportunity to forge our own path, create unique brand identities, and establish an independent news organization."

The rebrand is part of Comcast's larger strategy to spin off most of its cable networks into Versant. It's a response to the changing media landscape, where cable news channels are facing declining ratings as viewers migrate to streaming services and social media for their news fix.

Despite the name change, MS NOW assures its audience that its core mission remains unchanged. Viewers can expect to continue hearing from the same trusted hosts and journalists. "While our name has evolved, our essence remains the same," the network emphasized on X. "You can count on our unwavering commitment to justice, progress, and truth."

In addition to the rebrand, MS NOW is expanding its live events, launching a 'Morning Joe' newsletter, and fostering deeper interactions between its journalists and sources and the audience. The network has also bolstered its own reporting staff and is relocating to a new headquarters in Manhattan.

Nighttime host Michael Steele likened the transition to a child leaving home, emphasizing that it's a natural progression. "I didn't see this as a divorce; I see it as a rite of passage."

All MSNBC programs will continue to air on MS NOW at the same time, and viewers' channel numbers will remain unchanged.

So, what do you think about this bold move? Is MS NOW's independence a step in the right direction, or will it struggle to find its footing without the NBCU umbrella? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
