Mike Ploplis, a local resident of Salisbury, is experiencing a resurgence in his art career with an exhibit at Heart of Salisbury. This exhibit, titled "Fauxtanicals," showcases his unique style and technique, which involves using dish soap and spray paint to create captivating paintings. Ploplis' journey into art began as a form of therapy, helping him manage the challenges of his mental health and PTSD. He transitioned from a career as a flight paramedic to a full-time artist, finding a new purpose and passion in his work. The exhibit, curated by Wivianny "Wivi" DeHaas, owner of Heart of Salisbury, highlights Ploplis' original paintings, prints, giclees, and upcycled clothing art. The event was well-received, with attendees expressing their admiration for Ploplis' use of color and the therapeutic nature of his art. Ploplis' family and in-laws, along with other supporters, attended the opening reception, showcasing the community's support for his artistic endeavors. The exhibit will be on display through the end of July, providing an opportunity for more people to experience Ploplis' captivating artwork and the story behind its creation.
